User Verification Policy

Last updated: 11 December 2025

Verification on VTUSync is a serious trust signal, not a cosmetic feature. A verified badge tells other users that VTUSync has checked the account and that it is less likely to be fake, spam, or an impersonation. Because of this, verification is granted carefully, can be removed at any time, and is not guaranteed to any user.

This policy explains who may be verified, how VTUSync reviews verification requests, when verification can be refused or revoked, and what happens if your request is rejected. It works together with our Terms & ConditionsPrivacy Policy, and Community Guidelines.

1. What the verification badge means – and what it does not

When an account is verified on VTUSync, it means:

  • VTUSync has reviewed identification or other credible proof to confirm that the account belongs to a real person or entity.
  • The account is less likely to be an impersonator, throwaway, or “fake” account created for spam or abuse.

Verification does not mean:

  • VTUSync endorses the user’s opinions, content, or activities.
  • The user is affiliated with VTUSync, VTU, or any college unless explicitly stated.
  • The user is exempt from rules; verified accounts can be restricted or banned like any other account for violations.

Users are strictly forbidden from presenting verification as an endorsement or as a licence to ignore policies.

2. Who can be considered for verification

Verification is reserved for users and entities for whom authenticity clearly matters to the community:

  • Students who use their real identity and actively participate in their college or branch communities.
  • Seniors, student leaders, or organisers who manage events, communities, or gigs on VTUSync.
  • Educators, tutors, or training providers who regularly share legitimate learning content.
  • Recognisable student clubs, communities, or initiatives where impersonation would cause confusion or harm.

Minimum expectations before applying:

  • A complete and honest profile (name, photo, bio, academic details as applicable).
  • A visible history of genuine activity on VTUSync (not a brand‑new or empty account).
  • No serious or recent violations of our Community Guidelines, Anti‑Abuse rules, or academic integrity rules.

VTUSync may refuse verification even if you meet these points, for example if your role is not clear or verification would not meaningfully reduce risk of impersonation.

3. Information VTUSync may require

To verify your account, VTUSync may ask for one or more of the following:

  • A clear, recent image of a valid college ID card, admission letter, or official document.
  • An official email or domain proof (e.g., college email), if available.
  • Links to official pages or other verifiable profiles showing your role (for organisers, educators, or clubs).
  • Additional contact details to confirm you are reachable and legitimate.

You must only submit information that belongs to you and is accurate. Submitting forged, edited, or stolen documents, or pretending to be someone else, is treated as a serious violation and can lead to permanent account suspension and additional blocks.

4. How VTUSync reviews verification requests

When you apply for verification, VTUSync may:

  • Confirm that your identity details match your profile and activity.
  • Check whether your account name, photo, and description are consistent and not misleading.
  • Review your account for any history of policy violations (for example, harassment, cheating, scams, or security abuse).
  • Assess whether verification is appropriate and necessary for your type of account.

Possible outcomes:

  • Approved: You receive the verification badge, which will be visible on your VTUSync profile.
  • Needs more information: VTUSync may ask you to resubmit clearer documents or provide additional proof.
  • Rejected: VTUSync determines that you do not meet verification criteria or that your proof is insufficient or inconsistent at this time.

Verification decisions are made at VTUSync’s discretion, and VTUSync is not required to provide detailed reasoning in every case.

5. If your verification request is rejected (10‑day cooldown)

If VTUSync rejects your verification request:

  • Your account remains usable (unless a separate violation is involved), but you will not receive the badge.
  • You must wait a minimum of 10 days from the date of rejection before submitting a new verification request.
  • During this 10‑day period, repeated or duplicate requests for the same account will be ignored and may delay future reviews.

Use the waiting period to:

  • Complete or correct your profile (name, photo, academic details, and bio).
  • Build a clear record of genuine, positive activity on VTUSync.
  • Make sure you are not engaging in any behaviour that could lead to moderation issues.

If you repeatedly submit low‑quality requests or try to bypass the cooldown (for example, via multiple emails or forms), VTUSync may temporarily block verification requests from your account or associated accounts for a longer period.

6. Removal or loss of verification

VTUSync may remove your verification badge at any time, including in the following situations:

  • You change your profile in a way that makes it misleading or inconsistent with what was verified (for example, impersonating someone else, switching to a fake name or brand).
  • You are found to be involved in serious violations, such as harassment, hate speech, scams, cheating, illegal content, or security abuse.
  • You misuse your verified status to mislead other users, pressure them into unsafe actions, or imply false endorsements.

Loss of verification may happen together with other enforcement actions, including feature limits, suspensions, or permanent bans, depending on the severity of the behaviour.

7. Appeals and communication

If you believe a verification decision or removal was a mistake:

  • You can contact support@vtusync.in from your registered email with the subject “Verification issue”.
  • Include your username, a short explanation, and any relevant additional proof.

VTUSync may review the case, but:

  • Is not obligated to grant verification or restore a badge.
  • May maintain the original decision if the risk or uncertainty remains high.
  • Will still apply the 10‑day waiting period after a rejection for new verification applications, unless VTUSync explicitly tells you otherwise.

Aggressive, abusive, or spam‑like communication about verification may itself be treated as misuse and affect your account standing.

8. No sale, transfer, or guaranteed status

You are strictly forbidden from:

  • Selling, renting, or transferring a verified account to another person or group.
  • Promising verification to others or claiming you can “get them verified” in exchange for money, favours, or services.

Verification is a VTUSync decision only. Any offers or claims about “paid verification” or “inside connections” should be treated as scams and reported immediately.

VTUSync reserves the right to change verification criteria, pause new verifications, or re‑review existing badges at any time as the platform grows and threats evolve.

9. Changes to this policy

This User Verification Policy may be updated as VTUSync evolves, as misuse patterns change, or as laws and institutional expectations shift. When we update the policy, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top and may show a notice inside the app or on our website.

By continuing to use VTUSync, and especially by applying for or keeping verification, you confirm that you understand and accept this Policy, including the strict review standards and the 10‑day waiting period before reapplying after a rejection.
