These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of VTUSync, including our mobile applications, websites, services, features, content, and interfaces (collectively, the “Services”). By creating an account, accessing, or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and all policies referenced here. If you do not agree with these Terms, you must not use the Services.
When these Terms mention “VTUSync”, “we”, “us”, or “our”, they refer to the company that owns and operates the VTUSync Services. When these Terms mention “you” or “your”, they refer to the person using the Services.
VTUSync is an independent platform and is not an official product of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) or any other institution, unless we clearly state otherwise in writing.
Your Agreement With VTUSync
By using the Services, you are entering into a binding contract with VTUSync. You acknowledge that you have read and understand these Terms, and that you will comply with all applicable laws and regulations when using the Services.
Your use of the Services is also subject to additional policies and documents that we may publish from time to time, such as our Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines, Safety Guidelines, and any feature-specific terms or payment policies. Those documents are incorporated into these Terms by reference. If there is a conflict between these Terms and any additional terms, the additional terms will apply to the extent of the conflict for the relevant Service or feature.
If you access or use the Services on behalf of another person or an entity, you represent that you are authorized to bind that person or entity to these Terms, and “you” will refer to both you and that person or entity.
Who Can Use VTUSync
To use the Services, you must be legally allowed to enter into this contract and to use online services in your country or region. The Services are designed primarily for students and educators, but may be used by other individuals where permitted by law and by these Terms.
If you are under the age of majority in your region, you may use the Services only if your parent or legal guardian has reviewed these Terms and agreed to them on your behalf. Your parent or guardian is responsible for your account, your use of the Services, and any consequences of your activities on VTUSync.
The Services are not intended for children who are legally restricted from using such apps or providing consent for the processing of their personal data. We may apply different protections, feature limitations, or account flows based on age, region, or risk, in line with applicable law and our policies. We may restrict or terminate access at any time if we believe you do not meet eligibility requirements or if your use of the Services creates risk for us or others.
Your Account and Security
To access many features of VTUSync, you must create an account and provide accurate, up-to-date information. This may include your name, email address, phone number, college or university details, academic identifiers (such as USN), and other information that helps us operate the Services and personalize your experience.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us promptly if you suspect that your account has been accessed or used without your authorization.
You must not share, sell, rent, or transfer your account to anyone else. You must not create an account on behalf of someone else without their permission, and you must not impersonate any person, student, teacher, institution, or organization. We may require verification steps for certain features or actions, and we may deny or limit access to the Services if we cannot verify your identity or information.
How VTUSync Works
VTUSync provides tools and spaces that allow students and communities to access and share academic information and opportunities. Depending on your account and region, the Services may include features such as:
- Viewing and analyzing academic results and related performance information.
- Discovering notes, resources, study materials, and academic insights.
- Browsing and posting events, workshops, gigs, tasks, and job-related opportunities.
- Participating in community spaces, including posts, comments, reactions, and messaging.
- Using tools designed for teachers, tutors, and creators to share and promote content.
The content you see on VTUSync may be influenced by signals such as your profile, your activity, the people or institutions you connect with, and what is popular or relevant in your community. Some content may be public, and some content may be visible only to specific audiences, depending on product settings and your choices.
We may experiment with, add, modify, or remove features from time to time. We may also place limits on the use of certain features or Services as needed for business, security, legal, or technical reasons. We do not guarantee that any particular feature will always be available.
VTUSync is not an official results portal or academic authority. Information about results, rankings, or analytics is provided for informational purposes and may depend on the data we receive or infer. You should always verify critical academic information with official sources.
Your Content and Permissions You Give VTUSync
You may be able to create, upload, submit, store, or share content through the Services, including text, notes, posts, comments, messages, reactions, profile information, gigs, events, job listings, and media (“Your Content”). You are solely responsible for Your Content and for ensuring that it is lawful, accurate, and appropriate.
You must have all rights and permissions necessary to post Your Content and to grant the rights described in these Terms. You must not post content that belongs to someone else unless you have permission to do so.
You retain whatever ownership rights you have in Your Content. However, to enable VTUSync to operate and improve the Services, you grant VTUSync a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, and sublicensable license to host, store, use, reproduce, adapt, modify, publish, translate, distribute, publicly perform, and publicly display Your Content in connection with operating, providing, promoting, and improving the Services. This includes allowing other users to access and use Your Content in ways consistent with the Services’ functionality and your choices.
This license continues for a commercially reasonable time after you remove or delete content from the Services, to the extent that Your Content has been used for legitimate operational, security, or backup purposes, or where lawfully retained for compliance reasons. Copies of Your Content may remain in cached, backup, or archival systems for a period of time.
You understand that, depending on settings and features, Your Content may be viewed by other users or by the public. You should only share content that you are comfortable making available in this way.
Content Belonging to VTUSync and Others
The Services include content that is owned or controlled by VTUSync, such as our logos, name, trade dress, user interface, code, and original educational materials (“VTUSync Content”). VTUSync Content is protected by intellectual property and other laws. You may use VTUSync Content only for your personal use of the Services and only as permitted by these Terms. You must not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from VTUSync Content without our prior written permission.
You may also encounter content provided by other users, institutions, advertisers, partners, or third-party services (“Third-Party Content”). VTUSync does not endorse, verify, or guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of Third-Party Content. VTUSync is not responsible for any decisions you make or actions you take based on such content. Any dealings you have with third parties, including for gigs, jobs, events, or promotions, are solely between you and those parties.
Academic Integrity and Misuse of the Services
VTUSync is intended to support genuine learning, collaboration, and student growth. You must not use the Services to cheat, facilitate cheating, or undermine academic integrity. This includes:
- Sharing, requesting, or trading leaked or confidential exam questions or answer keys.
- Coordinating or promoting impersonation, proxy writing, or exam fraud.
- Selling or distributing assignments, projects, or other academic work in violation of institutional rules.
You also must not use the Services to engage in illegal activities, harass or abuse others, spread hate or threats, upload malware, or violate the rights of any person or institution. You must respect applicable laws and the rules of your college or university when using VTUSync.
If we believe your use of the Services violates these expectations or creates risk for others, we may remove content, restrict your account, or take other appropriate action.
Safety, Meetups, Gigs, and Jobs
Some features of VTUSync may help you discover gigs, tasks, events, meetups, or job-related opportunities. These listings may be created by users or third parties and are not vetted or verified by VTUSync unless explicitly stated.
VTUSync does not conduct background checks on users or employers and does not offer guarantees about the legitimacy, pay, safety, or outcomes of any listing. VTUSync is not a party to contracts or relationships that may arise between users or between users and third parties, including employment or service arrangements.
If you choose to meet someone you connect with through VTUSync or to participate in a gig, job, or event, you do so at your own risk. You should use common-sense precautions, such as meeting in public places, informing a trusted person about your plans, and independently verifying opportunities before committing time, money, or sensitive information.
VTUSync is not responsible for any injury, loss, dispute, or other outcome that arises from offline interactions, gigs, jobs, or events coordinated through the Services.
Moderation, Reporting, and Enforcement
VTUSync may use a combination of automated systems and human review to help keep the Services safe and to detect content or behavior that may violate these Terms or our policies. Because no system is perfect, we also rely on users to report content or behavior that seems harmful, suspicious, or inappropriate.
If you believe that content or a user violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines, you can report it using the tools available in the app or by contacting support. When you report something, you give VTUSync permission to review the relevant content and information necessary to investigate the issue.
We may take a range of actions in response to violations or suspected violations, including warning users, removing or limiting content, restricting certain features, temporarily suspending accounts, or permanently disabling accounts. We may also remove usernames or identifiers that are misleading, infringe others’ rights, or are otherwise inappropriate.
In some cases, we may be required or choose to notify colleges, universities, or authorities if we believe there is a credible risk of harm or illegal activity. Where available, you may be able to appeal certain enforcement actions using mechanisms we provide. Not all decisions will be reversible, and we may decline appeals in some circumstances.
Software, Licenses, and Restrictions
When you use VTUSync, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to install and use our app on your device and to access the Services for your personal, non-commercial purposes, as allowed by these Terms and applicable law.
You must not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the Services, except where permitted by law. You must not modify, adapt, or create derivative works based on the Services. You must not use automated means, such as bots or scrapers, to access or collect data from the Services, unless you have our prior written permission or you are using documented APIs in accordance with applicable terms.
Some parts of the Services may include or make use of open-source components. Where those components are governed by separate licenses, those licenses may give you additional rights, but only with respect to those specific components.
Payments and Paid Services
VTUSync may offer paid features or services, such as premium analytics, teacher or creator tools, event tickets, or promotional placements. Prices, availability, and features may change from time to time.
Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers or app stores. Their terms and privacy policies may apply in addition to these Terms. VTUSync does not store your full payment card information. You are responsible for any fees, charges, and taxes associated with your purchases.
Some purchases may be non-refundable except where required by law or by our then-current refund or payment policies. You should review the relevant terms at the time of purchase and, if applicable, the terms of the app store where you initiated the transaction.
Privacy and Data
Your use of the Services involves the collection and processing of your personal data. Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, how long we keep it, with whom we may share it, and what choices and rights you have. By using the Services, you agree that VTUSync may process your data in accordance with the Privacy Policy and applicable law.
Because VTUSync is an online service, you are responsible for any internet or mobile data charges you incur while using the Services. Check with your provider for details.
Service Changes and Availability
The Services are provided over the internet and may be affected by many factors outside our control. VTUSync may, from time to time, change or discontinue parts of the Services, introduce new features, or impose limits on certain features or storage.
We may suspend or limit access to the Services for maintenance, updates, or to address technical, security, or legal issues. We do not guarantee that the Services will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. You acknowledge that outages, delays, and data loss can occur.
Disclaimers
The Services, including all content, features, and tools, are provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” without any warranties or representations of any kind, whether express or implied. VTUSync does not promise that the Services will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of errors, or that any particular result, outcome, or level of performance will be achieved.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, VTUSync disclaims all warranties, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non‑infringement, and accuracy of content. You use the Services at your own risk, and you are responsible for your decisions and actions, including reliance on any information obtained through the Services.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, VTUSync and its affiliates, directors, employees, and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the Services.
VTUSync is not responsible for user-generated content, third‑party listings, or behaviors, for offline interactions between users, or for events, gigs, or jobs arranged through or in connection with the Services. VTUSync is not responsible for any damage, loss, or harm caused by others or by events beyond its reasonable control.
Where liability cannot be excluded, VTUSync’s total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the Services will be limited, to the extent allowed by law, to the amount you have paid to VTUSync for paid Services in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or to a minimum statutory amount where such a limit is not allowed.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit any rights or liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless VTUSync and its affiliates, directors, employees, and partners from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with your use of the Services, Your Content, your violation of these Terms or applicable law, or your interactions with other users or third parties.
Ending or Suspending Your Access
You may stop using the Services at any time and may request deletion of your account as described in the app or in our Privacy Policy. Certain data may continue to be stored for backup, security, legal, or operational reasons in accordance with that policy.
VTUSync may suspend, limit, or terminate your access to the Services, or to certain features, at any time if we believe you have violated these Terms or our policies, created risk or possible legal exposure for VTUSync or others, failed to pay for paid Services when due, or if we are required to do so by law or a legal order.
Some provisions of these Terms are intended to continue even after your account is closed or your access is terminated, including those relating to ownership of content, licenses you have granted, limitations of liability, and dispute resolution.
Changes to These Terms
VTUSync may revise these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and may provide additional notice, such as a notification in the app or on our website.
Your continued use of the Services after the revised Terms have been posted or become effective will mean that you accept those changes. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Services.
Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with the Services (including any non‑contractual disputes or claims) are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict of laws principles.
You agree to first contact VTUSync at support@vtusync.in to try to resolve any dispute informally. If a dispute is not resolved informally within a reasonable period, you agree that the courts located in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India will have exclusive jurisdiction, unless any mandatory law in your country requires a different forum.
If you are a consumer, you may have additional rights under the mandatory laws of your country of residence, and nothing in these Terms is intended to limit those rights.
Other Important Terms
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. VTUSync’s failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of its right to enforce that provision or any other provision later.
You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. VTUSync may assign or transfer its rights and obligations under these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets, or by operation of law.
These Terms, together with the policies and documents they reference, form the entire agreement between you and VTUSync regarding your use of the Services.
