Advertising & Sponsorship Policy

Last updated: 11 December 2025

This Advertising & Sponsorship Policy explains the rules for commercial content, promotions, sponsored posts, and partnerships on VTUSync. VTUSync prioritises student‑relevant content over aggressive advertising. It works together with our Terms & ConditionsPrivacy PolicyCommunity GuidelinesGig/Job Posting Policies, and other policies.

1. What counts as advertising or sponsorship on VTUSync

Advertising and sponsorship include content created to promote:

  • Products, services, or businesses (apps, courses, coaching, gadgets, clothing).
  • Events, webinars, or workshops with commercial intent.
  • Affiliate links, discount codes, or referral programs.
  • Brand partnerships, sponsored posts, or influencer collaborations.

Student‑relevant promotions (e.g., coding bootcamps, resume tools, study apps) may be allowed if they follow this policy. Unrelated or spammy ads are not.

2. General rules for all advertising

All promotional content on VTUSync must:

  • Be clearly labelled: Use #ad, #sponsored, #promotion, or “paid partnership” so students know it is commercial.
  • Be relevant to students: Focus on academics, skills, careers, campus life, or student needs. Generic e‑commerce or unrelated ads are not allowed.
  • Be honest: Do not exaggerate benefits, make false claims, or hide risks/costs.
  • Follow laws: Comply with Indian advertising standards, consumer protection laws, and disclosure rules.
  • Respect users: No misleading links, fake urgency (“limited time only”), or pressure tactics.

Promotions that look like organic content but are actually paid must still be disclosed.

3. What is allowed

Permitted advertising/sponsorship:

  • Student‑focused tools: Coding courses, resume builders, interview prep apps, study planners (with clear #ad).
  • Academic services: Coaching, doubt clearing, project guidance (non‑cheating, clearly labelled).
  • Career opportunities: Legitimate internships, freelance platforms, skill certifications.
  • Campus products: Student essentials like stationery, laptops, or affordable gadgets.
  • Official partnerships: Verified collaborations with colleges, clubs, or student programs.

Examples of good promotions:

textNeed help with Data Structures? Try [App Name] – 20% off for VTUSync users with code VTUSYNC20 #ad #sponsored

Examples of bad promotions (removed):

4. What is strictly prohibited

No tolerance for:

  • Scams or fake offers: Promotions that collect money/data without delivering value.
  • Unrelated spam: Generic e‑commerce, unrelated services, crypto schemes, or MLM.
  • Undisclosed ads: Paid content pretending to be genuine recommendations.
  • Deceptive practices: Fake reviews, urgency tactics, or hidden subscription traps.
  • Prohibited products: Illegal items, adult content, drugs, gambling, or weapons.
  • Mass spam: Repeated posting, irrelevant tags, or flooding student spaces.

Violations lead to immediate content removal and potential account action.

5. Official sponsorship and partnerships

VTUSync may partner with:

  • Colleges, clubs, or student organisations for official events/promotions.
  • Edtech companies or career platforms for verified student offers.
  • Brands with genuine student value (e.g., laptop discounts, skill courses).

Official partnerships will be clearly marked (e.g., “VTUSync Partner”, “Official Sponsor”) and follow this policy. Users cannot claim “official” status without VTUSync approval.

6. User‑generated promotions (affiliates, discounts)

Students can share genuine recommendations or affiliate links if:

  • Clearly disclosed (#ad, #affiliate).
  • Relevant to students (e.g., study apps, books, tools).
  • Not spammy or the primary purpose of the account.

Mass‑promoting affiliate links or turning your profile into an ad feed violates Community Guidelines.

7. Posting requirements for promotions

Promotional content must:

  • Disclose clearly: #ad, #sponsored, #promotion, or “paid post” visible in first line.
  • Stay relevant: Target VTU students’ actual needs (academics, skills, careers).
  • Limit frequency: No more than 1 promotional post per week unless officially partnered.
  • Follow format: Genuine tone, real value, no clickbait headlines.

Promotions in inappropriate spaces (e.g., exam prep groups) may be removed.

8. Enforcement

Violations of this policy can lead to:

  • Content removal: Undisclosed, spammy, or irrelevant promotions deleted.
  • Warnings: First minor issues corrected.
  • Restrictions: Limit promotional posting or account features.
  • Suspension/ban: Repeated spam, scams, or deceptive ads lead to account action.

VTUSync may also report serious fraud to authorities or payment partners.

9. Changes to this policy

VTUSync may update this Advertising & Sponsorship Policy as features, partnerships, or risks evolve. Updates change the “Last updated” date and may show as app notices.

Continued posting promotional content after changes means you accept the updated policy.
