Gig Posting Policy

Last updated: 11 December 2025

This Gig Posting Policy explains the rules for users who create, offer, or respond to gigs (short tasks, freelance work, or small projects) on VTUSync. Gigs are meant to help students find quick, legitimate opportunities like tutoring, content creation, graphic design, or campus tasks. It works together with our Terms & ConditionsPrivacy PolicyCommunity GuidelinesEvent Organizer Policy, and Safety Center.

1. What counts as a gig on VTUSync

Gigs on VTUSync are short, legitimate tasks or projects posted by students, seniors, or educators. Examples include:

  • Academic help: doubt clearing, assignment guidance, lab assistance (no cheating).
  • Creative work: poster design, video editing, content writing for student projects.
  • Campus tasks: note‑taking, event photography, research help.
  • Skill sharing: coding help, language tutoring, resume reviews.
  • Small freelance: logo design, social media posts, basic websites for student clubs.

Gigs must be student‑relevant, short‑term (typically 1–7 days), and low/no‑cost. VTUSync is not a full freelance marketplace or job board.

2. Gig poster responsibilities

If you create a gig on VTUSync, you agree to:

  • Be clear and honest: Describe exactly what work is needed, deadline, deliverables, pay (if any), and skills required.
  • Set fair terms: State payment method, amount/timing, and any tools needed. Free gigs are encouraged.
  • Verify yourself: Use your real profile and college details so responders know who you are.
  • Communicate promptly: Respond to questions and give clear feedback or approval when work is done.
  • Pay promptly (if applicable): Use trusted methods like UPI, Paytm, or GPay. No “advance fees” or shady payment requests.
  • Respect privacy: Do not ask for sensitive personal data (Aadhaar, bank details beyond payment) unless clearly necessary and explained.

You are responsible for managing your gig, communicating with responders, and any disputes that arise. VTUSync is not a payment processor, dispute resolver, or guarantor.

3. What gig posters must not do

Gig posters are strictly forbidden from:

  • Scams or fake gigs: Posting tasks to collect money, data, or labour without paying or delivering.
  • Upfront payments: Asking responders to pay “registration”, “tools”, or “training” fees before work begins.
  • Unsafe requests: Asking responders to meet in private/unsafe locations, share compromising info, or do illegal tasks.
  • Academic cheating: Gigs disguised as “help” that actually ask someone to complete assignments, exams, or projects to be submitted as their own.
  • Discrimination: Excluding responders based on caste, gender, religion, or other protected traits.
  • Spam: Mass‑posting identical gigs across branches or repeatedly posting the same task without updates.

Violations lead to immediate gig removal, account restrictions, or bans.

4. Gig posting requirements

Every gig must include:

  • Clear title: What exactly do you need done? (e.g., “Need poster for college fest – Canva skills”).
  • Detailed description: Scope of work, deadline, expected output, skills/tools needed.
  • Payment details: Rate (Rs 200, free, barter), method (UPI, cash), and when/how payment happens.
  • Your info: Name, college, contact method (in‑app messages preferred).
  • Location (if offline): Public, safe meeting spot only.

Examples of good gigs:

textTitle: Need help formatting lab report (CSE 5th sem)
Description: Have raw data from Networks lab. Need someone to format in Word with proper headings, tables, diagrams. Deadline: Jan 20. Pay Rs 150 via UPI. In‑app messages only.

Examples of bad gigs (will be rejected/removed):

textTitle: Work from home – earn 10k/week
Description: Send Rs 500 registration fee to unlock tasks.

Incomplete, suspicious, or spammy gigs may be rejected or removed without notice.

5. Payments and disputes

VTUSync does not process payments or hold escrow. All payment arrangements are between poster and responder.

Best practices:

  • Use trusted apps (UPI, GPay, PhonePe) with clear transaction notes.
  • Pay 50% upfront only for trusted responders, balance after delivery.
  • Take screenshots of agreements and work delivered.
  • Prefer in‑app messaging for all communication.

If there is a dispute:

  • Try resolving directly first (show proof of work, payments, agreements).
  • Escalate to support@vtusync.in with evidence from both sides.
  • VTUSync may mediate informally but cannot force payments or reverse transactions.

Serious disputes (scams, non‑payment, fake work) may lead to account restrictions or bans for the responsible party.

6. Offline gigs and safety

For gigs requiring offline meetings (e.g., lab help, photography):

  • Public locations only: College library, cafe, or public campus area. No private homes or isolated spots.
  • Share details: Exact time, place, emergency contact, what to bring.
  • Clear boundaries: State expected duration and scope upfront.
  • No pressure: Either party can cancel or walk away if uncomfortable.

If you feel unsafe, leave immediately and report to support@vtusync.in and local authorities if needed. VTUSync is not responsible for offline safety.

7. Enforcement for gig posters and responders

Violations of this Policy or other VTUSync rules can lead to:

  • Gig removal: Suspicious or abusive gigs deleted immediately.
  • Warnings: First minor issues may get a correction notice.
  • Restrictions: Limit ability to post gigs, message, or post content.
  • Suspension or ban: Repeated problems, scams, unsafe requests, or cheating lead to temporary or permanent account bans.

VTUSync may also cooperate with payment apps, colleges, or authorities for serious fraud or safety violations.

8. Responder responsibilities

If you respond to gigs:

  • Read the full description and verify the poster’s profile/activity.
  • Clarify scope, payment, and deliverables before starting.
  • Deliver quality work on time.
  • Do not accept gigs that seem unsafe, illegal, or like cheating.

Responders who scam posters, deliver fake work, or misuse gigs may also face restrictions or bans.

9. Changes to this policy

VTUSync may update this Gig Posting Policy as features evolve or new risks appear. Updates will change the “Last updated” date and may appear as app notices.

Continued use of gig features after changes means you accept the updated policy.
