VTUSync Data Deletion Request Policy

This Data Deletion Request Policy explains how you can request deletion of your personal data from VTUSync, what happens when you submit a request, and the circumstances where deletion may be delayed or limited. This policy should be read together with our Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, and Account Deactivation and Removal Policy.
1. Your Right to Request Data Deletion
Subject to applicable laws, including India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (where applicable), you may request the deletion of your personal data held by VTUSync.
VTUSync currently processes all data deletion requests manually to help protect user accounts from unauthorized or accidental deletion.
You may request:
- Deletion of your entire VTUSync account and associated personal data.
- Deletion of specific personal data while keeping your account active, where technically feasible.
Submitting a request does not guarantee immediate deletion. Each request is reviewed individually.
2. How to Request Data Deletion
VTUSync does not currently provide an in-app account deletion feature.
To request deletion of your account or personal data:
- Send an email to support@vtusync.in
- Use one of the following subject lines:
- Account Deletion Request
- Personal Data Deletion Request
- Include:
- Your registered email address
- Your VTUSync username (if applicable)
- The data you want deleted (or state that you want your entire account deleted)
- A brief reason for your request
To protect your account, VTUSync may ask for additional information to verify your identity before processing your request.
3. What Data May Be Deleted
Once your request is approved, VTUSync will delete or permanently anonymize eligible personal data where technically possible.
Data typically deleted
- Account profile information (name, profile photo, bio, email address, phone number, etc.)
- Academic information you provided (USN, college, branch, semester, and related profile details)
- User-generated content such as posts, comments, uploaded notes, messages, events, and other content associated with your account
- User preferences and account settings
Data that may be anonymized
- Activity history
- Analytics linked to your account
- Cached copies that are automatically removed over time
Data that may be retained
Certain information may be retained where required for:
- Legal or regulatory compliance
- Tax or accounting obligations
- Fraud prevention and security investigations
- Abuse prevention
- Law enforcement requests
- Internal backup systems until scheduled deletion
Payment information processed by third-party payment providers or app stores is governed by their respective privacy policies and retention practices.
4. When VTUSync May Refuse or Delay Deletion
VTUSync may delay or refuse deletion where permitted by law, including when:
- Identity verification cannot be completed.
- The request appears fraudulent or unauthorized.
- The account is involved in an active investigation or dispute.
- Certain records must be retained for legal or regulatory purposes.
- Security or fraud prevention requires temporary retention.
- Technical limitations prevent immediate deletion from backup systems.
Where possible, VTUSync will explain why certain information cannot be deleted.
5. How VTUSync Processes Requests
Every deletion request follows these steps:
- Identity Verification – We verify that the request is made by the legitimate account owner.
- Review – We determine whether any legal, security, or operational reasons prevent immediate deletion.
- Processing – Eligible personal data is deleted or anonymized from active systems.
- Confirmation – We notify you once the request has been completed or explain any exceptions.
Processing Timeline
- We aim to acknowledge deletion requests within 7 business days.
- Most approved requests are completed within 30 days.
- Complex requests or requests involving legal or technical limitations may take longer.
6. Effects of Account Deletion
If your account deletion request is approved:
- Your VTUSync account will be permanently deleted.
- You will no longer be able to sign in using that account.
- Your profile and associated user content will be removed where applicable.
- Deleted data generally cannot be recovered.
- You may create a new VTUSync account in the future, but previously deleted data cannot be restored.
Some content that other users have created (such as comments mentioning your username) may remain where it does not directly contain your personal data.
7. Cancelling a Request
If you change your mind before your deletion request has been completed, contact support@vtusync.in immediately.
If processing has not yet begun, VTUSync may be able to cancel the request.
Once deletion has been completed, it cannot be reversed, and deleted data cannot be restored.
8. Relationship with Other Policies
This policy should be read together with:

- Terms & Conditions
- Account Deactivation and Removal Policy
If there is any conflict between these documents, the Terms & Conditions will prevail to the extent permitted by law.
9. Changes to This Policy
VTUSync may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, legal obligations, or privacy practices.
When updates are made, the “Last updated” date will be revised. Continued use of VTUSync after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
